Ingredients for making a heart of palm filling for pie:

 1 tablespoon of olive oil

 200 grams of chopped hearts of palm

 1 tablespoon of chopped red pepper (optional)

 ¼ cup of chopped or sliced ​​olives (without pits)

 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley or cilantro (or to taste)

 ¾ cup of liquid milk

 ½ small chopped onion

 1 tablespoon of cornstarch (cornstarch)

 2 tablespoons of cream cheese

 Salt and black pepper to taste)

How to make a heart of palm filling for pie:

Start by separating all the ingredients that will be used to prepare your heart-of-palm cream filling recipe.

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil and saute the onion and pepper for a few minutes.

Tip: You can substitute red peppers for tomatoes (seedless), if you prefer!

Add the hearts of palm, olives, cilantro or parsley, salt and pepper and let it cook for another 5 minutes. Stir from time to time so as not to stick to the bottom of the pan.

Tip: If you want, replace the olives with green corn or increase the amount of hearts of palm!

Dilute cornstarch in liquid milk, mixing well until smooth.

Add the milk with cornstarch to the seasoned heart of palm stew.

Stir without stopping until it is very creamy, as shown in the photo below.

The filling will be at the correct point when it is dropping slightly from the bottom of the pan. At this point, turn off the fire.

Add the cream cheese to the filling and mix well. Use the filling when it is already warm or cold!
